After the big bang: governance in Indonesia's democratic transition
Immediately after the downfall of Suharto, Indonesia embarks on a big bang reform to answer the demand of Reformasi. Changes across political, legislative and institutional spectrum were instituted. Along with these changes, good governance concept was introduced. This article first will attempt to problematizes the meaning of governance and governance reform in a transitional democracy such as Indonesia. This will be followed by illustration of provincial governance performance after almost a decade of the initial big bang. At the end this article will put forward some propositions pertaining to governance in a transitional democracy
